Avioxx showcases the future of waste-to-molecule technology at the SAF Supply Chain Initiative 2025

This October, Avioxx proudly exhibited at and sponsored the SAF Supply Chain Initiative 2025 in Sheffield, the UK’s only event dedicated to uniting the entire SAF value chain.

Bringing together industry leaders, innovators, and policymakers, the conference focused on the urgent challenge of decarbonising commercial aviation and scaling sustainable alternatives to Jet A-1 fuel.

At the heart of our contribution, Avioxx delivered a live-stream demonstration from our advanced fuel lab in Runcorn. This showcased how we convert residual household waste into clean, self-powered SAF, a real-time glimpse into a carbon-negative aviation future.

Engagement with government and industry

The day began with a welcome from Michelle Carter, Head of Transport at Innovate UK Business Connect. This introduction set the tone for a forward-looking agenda that spanned UK policy, SAF pathways, and commercial readiness.

A keynote speech from Keir Mather MP, Minister at the Department for Transport, reinforced the UK government’s support for SAF. He reaffirmed Britain’s ambition to become a clean energy superpower, underpinned by a robust SAF mandate and investment in innovation.

Innovation and collaboration across the supply chain

The conference featured a strong lineup of speakers and technology showcases, including:

  • Jonathan Simpson (Scottish Enterprise)– Project Willow and SAF investment landscape
  • Steven Gillard (Boeing)– Global strategies for scaling SAF deployment
  • Candice Hughes (Petrofac)– Delivering first-of-a-kind SAF infrastructure

Avioxx joined four curated pitches in the afternoon featuring new SAF supply chain innovations. Spanning from wastewater-derived fuels to end-to-end digitalisation, they underscored the sector’s growing maturity and momentum.

Our takeaway

Avioxx left the event energised by the level of collaboration and insight shared. From policy to practice, it was inspiring to see how the future of flight is being shaped by innovation, the very approach that drives Avioxx’s work.

We look forward to building on the connections made in Sheffield, working with government, industry, and research partners to accelerate commercial deployment of our integrated SAF platform.
